SANTE International Workshop on Seniors
When the basic philosophy of ISCA projects goes well together with the objectives and needs of its member organizations, then it bears tasty fruits.
Based on ISCA philosophy the SANTE International workshop on the physical activities of seniors “How to Keep Fit – Active Seniors” was organized within SANTE project by the Czech Sokol Organization (COS) in cooperation the Czech Association Sport for All (CASPV) in Prague held in COS – Tyrsuv dum on 20 – 21 November, 2010.
The aim of the workshop was clear and simple: to provide the participants with the latest views on seniors as the growing social category, to present and discuss their social, nutrition and mainly physical needs and to present the best movement programs for them.
Health of seniors was the red line going through and across all the lectures, practical lessons and discussions. As indicated the program included theory and practice - and that corresponded with the choice of the lecturers and instructors. Among those who really upgraded the workshop to the top level were Prof. Herbert Hartmann from DTB, Germany and Miroljub Jakovljevic from Faculty of Health Sciences, University Ljubljana, Slovenia. Their updated views on the categories of elderly people gave the workshop an overall umbrella.

A cooperative project by SOKOL and CASPV
The content and the forms of the activities were perfectly balanced with the aim to maximum active involvement of all participants who came not only from Czech Sokol (COS) and Czech Sport for All Association (CASPV) but also from Slovakia and Switzerland. Theoretical presentations were followed by practical demonstrations and exercises in the Gym and by discussions and opinions of the participants.
The program would not be complete without complementary and cultural part. The sports show of Sokol Unit Kampa with the guests from CASPV impressed all participants and gave them opportunity to be part of the show as well. The organizers prepared also the concert of Sokol` choir presenting both classic and national music.
The workshop could become, also according to the opinions of the participants, an example of the practical realization of the subjects of SANTE project (and similar projects) with the effect and impact to practical life of the instructors and other interested persons of the respective target group.
